OPEC+ decisions are not politicized, says Saudi energy minister

OPEC+ decisions are not politicized and based on market fundamentals, Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said on Monday, adding that the alliance of oil producers is flexible enough to adjust its policy if necessary.

Prince Abdulaziz made the remarks at a media forum in the capital Riyadh on last October’s decision to cut the group’s production target by 2 million barrels a day.

The group formed by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies, including Russia, agreed to the cuts until the end of 2023.

Prince Abdulaziz reiterated last week in an interview with Energy Aspects that the decision would stand for the rest of the year.
