Yes! Fans can rejoice as Netflix has officially confirmed the Outer Banks Season 3 on their official Twitter post of December 7th, 2021. This is quite a surprising move as Netflix often does take more than three months to confirm the next season of any of their shows.
The official Twitter handle offered a sneak peek of the main cast with the caption, “This just in from Poguelandia…Outer Banks will be back for a third season!”
Again on February 28th, 2022, the Outer Banks team offered some more insights about the future adventure of the Pogues on their Instagram account.
The post with a picture of the main cast was captioned- “don’t call, don’t text. no service in poguelandia. OBX 3 is BACK IN PRODUCTION,”
When Will Outer Banks Season 3 Be released?
At this moment, the third season is going through the production stage. So, it is better to assume that Season three will premiere in the middle of 2022 to early 2023.
Some sources also claim that the show may get a fourth stint as the screenplay of season four is already in the papers! But, since nothing is confirmed, take this news with a pinch of salt!
If you check out the gap between the two seasons, it is nearly one year. The first season premiered in April 2020. The second season came in the last week of July 2021. So, it is clear that the third season will get released in the middle of this year.

Outer Banks Season 3 Storyline
The story will probably take place from where the previous season left off. Big John will be a crucial part of the story as he is alive and back in action. Clara may have to make a tough choice to find the treasure she wants. The Pogues will probably have their own adventure to find their way to return to their home from the remote island. They also plan to steal the gold and cross of Santo Domingo. But, how they achieve their dream will be a crucial plotline.
On the other hand, probably Rafe and Ward will also have their Karma for their past misdeeds.
Cast Reveal About The Outer Banks Season 3 storyline
Chase stokes has already shared his opinion in an interview with Elite Daily. In April 20022, he said, “I think a lot of loose ends are going to get tied up. A lot of questions will be answered. And per usual, these kids are going to get put through the wringer,”
Carlacia Grant also voiced the same opinion in a March 2022 interview with Hollywood Life. She expressed her thoughts, saying, “It’s all going to make sense… There’s going to be a lot of things that maybe haven’t been explained that are going to be explained [in season 3].”
Interestingly, Chase Stoke also added that even the cast does not know the full plot and is as excited as regular fans. “The writers really like to keep us on our toes, and I think that creates performances that catch you in the moment … I’ve no idea what’s going on past what we’ve shot in Barbados,” he justified his position.
On top of that, he also added that the Outer Banks Season 3 would have a much more laid-back vibe. He said, “Season 2 was like a death metal album, I think Season 3 would be like the acoustic ballad album of the Outer Banks music world, with a lot going on.”
Grant also shared the same information in her interview with Hollywood Life. She said that when the cast first received the scripts for the first two episodes, they all went crazy with excitement! She added, “The group texts were going off!… It’s unexpected for real! The twists and turns that are going to happen, it’s so unexpected.”
Madison Bailey also offered some crucial details related to the romance between JJ and Kie in an interview with Cosmopolitan. She hoped for a positive romance between the two characters by saying, “We’re both feisty, we’re both always down for the crazy ideas. There’s just something these two characters have inherently in common that could work,”
Madelyn Clint also assured the fans about her return, saying, “Hi, so I’m getting asked if s3 is my final season of obx. I will come back for as many seasons as they will have me. I love my job and there’s not a day that goes by that I’m not grateful for it, and for everyone who has watched it. Not everything on the internet is true.”
She split from Chase Stokes after a year of dating. Hence, many fans speculate that she will not return to play the role of Sarah. But, it seems Madelyn is also eager to return.
She also offered her opinion about the future of John B and Sarah in season 3 during her interview with ELLE. She said that she wanted Sarah to find happiness on her own and find her destiny. Madelyn added, “I want to see her and John B have to kind of hash out what just happened. I want to see her personal relationships with her chosen family develop. Maybe we could get some backstory on her and Kie’s friendship. Maybe see her try to go to Pogue high school. Maybe see her try to get a job.”
She also shared her experience with season 2- “Season 2 was incredibly fast-paced and wild and very fun. And I think if we’re lucky enough to get a season 3 [which we now know they will!] I want to dive into some character stuff and get to know [Sarah] better.”
