Microsoft calls Essentials a new version of its Teams platform especially for small businesses. The latter receive the collaboration application – chat, video conferencing, cloud storage and more – much cheaper: The variant costs 4 US dollars per user per month.
Meetings can be held for up to 30 hours. They are also limited to a maximum of 300 participants. More expensive licenses offer conferences with up to 1000 active users, but the free MS Teams is limited to 100 people and 60 minutes. There is also 10 GB of cloud storage per user, which corresponds to most of the more expensive versions and doubles that of the free version.
As software as a service, Microsoft operates its Teams Essentials fully managed in its own Azure cloud. Support from the provider is also included in the price. The package will also be distributed by Microsoft’s cloud partners, including Deutsche Telekom and Wortmann AG in Germany. All information can be found in the announcement.
