The American company SONDORS, specialized in electric bicycles, is now ready to start with the production of Metacycle, its first electric motorcycle, with which it aims to conquer the market thanks to its relatively modest cost, informs the specialized portal Electrek.

It weighs 91 kilograms and consists of a distinctively designed aluminum frame, with a hollow space where the fuel tank of a gasoline motorcycle would normally be located.

It promises a maximum speed of 130 kilometers per hour thanks to its motor with 8 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of nominal power and 14.5 kWh of maximum power. Its 4,000 watt-hour (Wh) battery offers a range of up to 80 miles (about 128 kilometers) on a single charge. The standard charging time is four hours and it is compatible with public charging stations.

The Metacycle has a cost of 5,000 dollars and next to others in the electric motorcycle industry it is comparatively more affordable. For example, the Harley-Davidson LiveWire is worth $ 29,799.

Since its presentation in January this year, the vehicle underwent some slight modifications during the homologation process, in particular in safety features such as lights, reflectors and rear-view mirrors, Electrek observes.

In addition, the company has updated the configuration of the brake mechanism, as well as the shape of the motor housing and the battery compartment.
