PlayStation Studios adds a new team. The Japanese company confirms the acquisition of Valkyrie Entertainment, a studio founded in 2002 that has worked on Triple A projects of all kinds. Halo Infinite, God of War, League of Legends and Valorant are just some of the names found in his long career.
“Today we announce that Valkyrie Entertainment will join the PlayStation Studios family,” he announced in a terse tweet. Hermen Hulst, responsible for the group. “The studio will make invaluable contributions to key PlayStation Studios franchises.”
Who are Valkyrie Entertainment?
The team is settled in the heart of Seattle, just a few blocks from such iconic city landmarks as the Art Museum, Pike Place Market, and popular theaters. On their official website they define themselves as “an independent studio made up of experienced developers who are passionate about quality and efficient work.”
His profile on the social network Twitter is somewhat lacking in movement. His last tweet dates from September 10 of this year, just a few hours after confirming his work in the development of God of War Ragnarok. A few months earlier, on March 2, its founder was celebrating the team’s help in producing Aliens: Fireteam Elite.
PlayStation’s commitment to strengthening its portfolio of equipment has continued this year. Two names appear prominent: Bluepoint Games y Housemarque. The creators of Demon’s Souls Remake and Returnal, respectively, are already within the internal structure, as are Firesprite and Nixxes Software. In this link you can find out which ones are part of the firm.
Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, assured in November that they have more than 25 games in development. Some of them will start arriving in 2022. We have already confirmed names on the table: Horizon Forbidden West (February 18), Gran Turismo 7 (March 4, 2022) and God of War Ragnarok (2022).
