Legends Pokémon Arceus will mean the biggest change for the saga in its RPG aspect since its birth twenty-five years ago. Game Freak is about to materialize a project based on exploration, action in real time combined with traditional combat and, as we will delve into in this article, a world that opens up ready for us to meet it. In order that you can understand a little better how the playable cycle of this installment will be, what we know and what we do not know at the moment of Hisui, we invite you to continue reading.

The first thing we must make clear is that, contrary to what has been assumed, no confirmation whatsoever that Pokémon Legends Arceus is an open world; rather, we are facing a region divided into different ecosystems in the form of areas with freedom of movement. A sum of Wild Areas, to understand each other, with what we call free roam.
So what are the games like in Pokémon Arceus Legends?
Hisui is the spine from Pokémon Legends Arceus, what we now know as Sinnoh; the same that we remember from the Perla, Diamante and Platino editions…, but very different. Because Hisui, set long before contemporary times, does not have the cities, routes, not towns that we knew fifteen years ago in the original Sinnoh, but rather a very rural island awaits us, in the process of urbanization, in which Mount Corona it is still the all-seeing heart. Also, the relationship between humans and Pokémon is much more distant. There are neither Coaches nor Gyms; in fact, there is no Pokédex either. Will that one of our two main tasks in the game: create the first Pokédex —Total number of Pokémon to be confirmed— and find out about the stately Pokémon phenomenon with Team Galaxy, which is not a villain here. Certain stately Pokémon, instead of serving the population under the Guardians’ protection, are furious and threatening.
Therefore, we already understand what our task is in Pokémon Arceus Legends, which goes beyond completing the Pokédex through real-time action mechanics such as stealth, dodge or the launch of Poké Ball, in addition to traditional combat. Now it remains to determine how will the missions be, what we currently know as parcels and requests; that we understand will be the main and secondary missions.
From Jubilee Village to the Obsidian Prairie and the rest of Hisui areas
Jubilee Villa is our town (Jubilee City), from where we depart in our research outposts. It is in this place where all the installations, the rediles (a kind of Pokémon Center with PC elements) and the base of Team Galaxy. When we go out to investigate we will have to complete tasks and rank up within the team for unlock new areas.
At the moment, as you can see in the images, we have five explorable areas on Hisui, of which we only know one in depth: the Obsidian Meadow. It is this of which we have seen practically all the gameplays; added to images and small clips of the snowy area, where in the future would be Ciudad Puntaneva.
And, as shown in this image, this is the Obsidian Prairie, not the entirety of Hisui. It is important not to confuse it: this mapping with icons and different subareas is not the whole of Hisui, but a part. Our bet, however, is that by accepting a mission we will travel to one of these large areas, open, but each area will be independent; something similar to how Capcom structures the environments in Monster Hunter. At the end of an investigation we will return to Villa Jubileo.
Each area of Hisui has its own Base Camp
In addition, in each area we will have a Base camp, which will have a resting place for the protagonist – the main character may be weakened when injured by Pokémon or when falling from high places – and their Pokémon, added to a work table to make items with the objects that we find .
As you can see, each area will have an independent department in the Hisui Pokédex. If nothing changes, we will have five tabs (one for each area) and a general one, as we have been seeing in a similar way in Generations VI (Kalos), VII (Alola) and VII (Galar).
Soon we will be able to break down more information. At the moment, this is all we know about Hisui.
Pokémon Legends Arceus the next one goes on sale January 28, 2022 in physical and digital format exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
