Power Book II: Ghost is an American TV series that any crime drama lover would love to watch. It is created by Courtney A. Kemp. First premiered on the 6th of September, 2020, on Starz, the show is touted as a sequel and spin-off to another popular crime-drama series called Power. After its successful two seasons and warm reception by the audience, the show is progressing towards its third season, making its fans excited to learn about the plot, release date, and everything in between.

When Will the Third Season be Released?

The makers announced the first season of Power Book: Ghost on the 26th of July, 2019, and it made its debut on the 6th of September, 2020. Additionally, around the same time, the series was renewed by Starz for the second season. It hit the small screens on the 21st of November, 2021, a year after the announcement of its subsequent season.

The makers announced that the series would be renewed for the third season on the 7th of December, 2021. So, following the timeline, it can be anticipated that the upcoming season may release sometime in late 2022 or early 2023. As we are already in the last quarter of the year and there is no update from the makers about the third season, we expect it to release it next year only.

As of now, the details surrounding the release date of the third season remain unknown, and the fans await word from the makers.

What Happened in the Season 2 Finale?

The finale of the second season set up the plot of the third season quite well.

In the season finale, the audience sees Monet is sure to find out that Lorenzo killed her son Zeke and accident or no accident, the two will surely come to blows. There is a return of Tasha St. Patrick or Vanessa Edwards, who was living in isolation in witness protection. On the other hand, Tameika Washington made another appearance delivering Tasha’s daughter with Tariq’s help. As Tasha asked about Tariq, Tameika claimed to remain oblivious to that name. And if she did, Vanessa should forget they ever existed.

Tasha will not give up on her family, which was pretty much evident in the finale of the second season.

The other side of the finale shows Tariq agreeing to help Monet go through with her plan to kill Mecca. He did it so that he would then be out of the game. With no Lauren, Yasmine, or Brayden by his side, he then decides to stay in the game and work with the Tejadas with their continued drug enterprise.

The second season finale also marked the surprise comeback of NYPD Detective Blanca Rodriguez, holding a grainy picture of Tariq in Mecca’s penthouse reception after he was shot dead, standing over his slain body and saying “you called me too late.” After being handed the picture of the possible suspect, Blanca sneered at the image saying, “Tariq St. Patrick, we meet again.”

The finale did not just stop there. Defense lawyer Cooper Saxe who was sleeping with the enemy prosecutor throughout the season decided that he was sick of David McLean’s methods of lawyering and would inform him and St. Patrick to get justice for Professor Carrie Milgram and Lauren Baldwin.

The finale also marked the return of Redman’s Theo Rollins, who had been in prison for the murder he did not commit. It turns out that the shooter was at least four inches taller, and that trigger finger points to Davis McLean, who is working hard to get his brother out of the jail.

What Will Happen in the Third Season?

Considering what happened in the season 2 finale, the third season will likely begin with a banger.

Monet is sure to find that her husband Tejada killed her son Zeke in case of mistaken identity. After getting away with the murder of Professor Jabari Reynolds, Tariq decided to remain and become the new connect now that Mecca is out of the picture. On the flip side, Brayden, who saved Tariq from a life in prison after confessing to being the student selling drugs on campus and exposing himself as the CEO of their drug peddling app, betrayed him when he set up Tariq’s college lover Lauren, whose body was found after a car accident.

In an interview, Rainey, who plays Tariq, states, “I just know that Tariq’s going to be making some money, and obviously, he is going to be fighting a lot because he is trying to figure out what is going on with Lauren and how her situation went because he doesn’t really know what happened. It’s going to be hard for Brayden to hide one secret from Tariq. You know Tariq, he is smart; he is going to figure out something. He is going to get to the bottom of what he wants to get to the bottom of.”

Rainey continued, “It is definitely going to be some ups and downs in those relationships, and that’s one thing I am excited to see: the rocky road that they are about to start. It’s going to be crazy.”

Rainey’s words highlight that the third season will be full of drama and mysteries, making the audiences all the more excited to catch a glimpse of the teaser or trailer, if any.
