Prince Harry is preparing for another visit to the United Kingdom later this month to participate in the WellChild Awards in London.
At 40 years old, Harry has been a steadfast supporter of WellChild, a charity dedicated to assisting young individuals with serious illnesses and disabilities. He has attended the awards ceremony, which honors the inspiring stories of the charity’s young recipients, a total of 12 times over the years.
In a recent statement, WellChild acknowledged Harry’s significant contributions as their patron for 16 years. The organization highlighted his efforts in raising both awareness and financial support, which have been crucial in advancing their mission to enhance the lives of seriously ill children and their families.
The statement noted, “He has attended the WellChild Awards on 12 previous occasions and will spend time with each winner and their families at a pre-ceremony reception, listening to their stories and helping create lifelong memories. Prince Harry will then attend the ceremony, present the Award for Inspirational Child (aged 4-6), and deliver a speech.”
Reflecting on his upcoming engagement, Harry expressed his honor in attending, stating, “I am once again honored to attend this year’s WellChild Awards celebrating the remarkable courage and achievements of children living with complex medical needs. These incredible young people, along with the dedicated caregivers, nurses, and professionals who tirelessly support them, inspire us all. It is a true privilege to recognize such extraordinary individuals.”
Before heading to the UK, Harry is scheduled to participate in a panel discussion organized by the Diana Award foundation during the Concordia Annual Summit in New York City, running from September 23 to September 25. Dr. Tessy Ojo, CEO of The Diana Award, will lead this discussion alongside Harry and two young recipients of the foundation’s Legacy Award, which honors the memory of his late mother, Princess Diana.
Recently, Harry was in the UK to attend the funeral of his uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, Princess Diana’s brother-in-law, on August 28. Although both he and his brother, Prince William, were present, they reportedly did not interact during the event. Harry remained at Althorp House, where his mother grew up, staying with his uncle, Charles Spencer.
Harry celebrated his 40th birthday on September 15, receiving well-wishes from his estranged brother and Kate Middleton. The Prince and Princess of Wales shared birthday greetings via social media, stating, “Wishing a Happy 40th Birthday to the Duke of Sussex.”
In a statement given to the BBC on September 13, Harry shared his thoughts on turning 40, saying, “I was anxious about 30, I’m excited about 40.” He emphasized his commitment to continue doing good in the world, regardless of age.
