Rebel Moon, Zack Snyder’s new project for Netflix

Two months after his movie Army of the Dead break records in Netflix, Zack Snyder confirmed a new collaboration with the streaming platform. The film will be titled Rebel Moon and it will have a lot of science fiction elements. “This is me as a fan of Akira Kurosawa Y Star Wars“, said the filmmaker, anticipating what the tape is about.

The film tells the story of a colony of humans on a planet on the outskirts of the galaxy that is ruled by a tyrant named Balisarius. In an effort to defend themselves against this character, the colonists send a young woman with a “mysterious past” to travel through other planets to find warriors to help them.

Snyder is working on the script for the film with the co-writer of Army of the Dead, Shay Hatten and the co-writer of 300, Kurt Johnstad. Everything indicates that the film will have eclectic influences and the authors are convinced of its potential to become a successful franchise within Netflix.

“It’s my love for science fiction and great adventures”said the filmmaker, adding: “I hope it becomes a massive brand and we can build on that universe.”. Snyder originally worked the concept as an entry from Star Wars when Disney acquired Lucasfilm. The plans did not materialize and now, thanks to the success of Army of the Dead, will reach Netflix.

“I spent the last three years building this universe. Every corner must be painted. I have been making designs, drawing a lot and cultivating this fertile floor to build this world.“said the director, who hopes to start the production of Rebel Moon in early 2022.
