Arnold Schwarzenegger, another iconic action movie star, recently gave an emotional message of support to Bruce Willis, following the announcement of his retirement. Speaking during an interview with CinemaBlend, Schwarzenegger praised Willis and described him as a “big, big star” who will always be remembered as such. The Terminator 2: Judgment Day star also acknowledged Willis’ kind nature and the difficult circumstances that led to his retirement, due to his health.
Schwarzenegger and Willis have previously worked together on The Expendables and Expendables 2, where they played supporting roles as members of the same team. When Willis’ family announced his retirement last year, they expressed gratitude for his continued love and support, and emphasised that they were moving through this difficult time as a strong family unit.
In February of this year, Willis’ family provided a major update on the actor’s health, revealing that his condition had progressed to frontotemporal lobe dementia, which had been causing aphasia problems for years. In a statement, the family described their relief at finally having a clear diagnosis, and emphasised that Willis had always believed in using his voice to help others and raise awareness about important issues.
Despite his retirement, Willis remains one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, known for his versatility in different film genres, particularly action films, and his roles as a steadfast hero. From his early days on stage and television, to his breakout role on “Moonlighting”, Bruce Willis has come to be remembered as one of the most iconic actors of the last few decades, with a long list of critically acclaimed titles to his name. Although he will be missed on screen, his legacy as a big, big star is sure to endure.
