The AirPods Pro could finally use an update. Now something seems to be happening: Apple’s manufacturers in Asia are preparing a report in the electronics trade journal DigiTimes according to the production and early delivery of the devices, which could begin in the second half of the year.

Apple’s first plugs with active noise cancellation (ANC) have been on the market since autumn 2019 and have been sold since then – with the exception of the fact that a MagSafe-enabled charging case has been included since October 2021, which, however, has nothing else in terms of functionality changes.

Rumors about the “AirPods Pro 2” have been around since last year. So supposedly not much should change in the design – although there are also observers who believe that Apple could shorten the “stem” of the iconic plugs. It seems to be clear that the new charging case will have integrated “air holes” to let “Where is?” Apple could then market the latter itself, which would once again bring the group high-margin accessory sales.

It is also expected that the “AirPods Pro 2” will also reproduce lossless sounds for the first time. How this will be technically possible remains Apple’s secret. However, the group would like more Bluetooth bandwidth and could possibly use proprietary protocols to connect the iPhone, Mac and iPad to the plugs.

Apple recently overhauled its AirPods. The AirPods 3 are optically based on the AirPods Pro, but have no ANC. On the other hand, they sit less closed in the ears, which some users like. They’re still cheaper than the AirPods Pro. Furthermore, Applees is increasingly competing with its Beats products. Most recently, the Beats Fit Pro were added to the comparatively inexpensive ANC plugs, which, however, will only come to Europe this spring.
