Cobie Smulders is ready to reprise her role as Maria Hill and reunite with Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson) in the upcoming Marvel series for Disney +, Secret Invasion.
As reported by Deadline, Smulders will return to UCM as the former deputy director of SHIELD when Secret Invasion airs sometime in 2022. Smulders will return alongside the character Nick Fury played by Samuel L. Jackson, who will star in the series.
Smulders has played Hill in several different MCU projects to date. Having initially made her debut in The Avengers, the actress has also reprized the role in other films. such as Spider-Man: Far From Home, Avengers: Age of Ultron and more.
Along with Jackson and Smulders, several other high-profile actors and actresses are reported to have joined the ranks of the show. Ben Mendelsohn will return as the leader of the Skrull, Talos, whose previous appearances occurred in films such as Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home Meanwhile, Kingsley Ben-Adir is believed to play one of the main villains of the series.
The cast will also include Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones and Olivia Colman from The Crown. The Hollywood Reporter reports earlier this year also detailed that directors Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim were on board to bring the project to life before its premiere in 2022. While little has been shared about the status of production, Jackson posted on Instagram in October to inform fans that the series had already started filming.
Secret Invasion will introduce us to Fury and Talos investigating a sect of Skrulls that have infiltrated the highest levels of authority in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
