RIU will shortly resume construction of the Punta Nizuc hotel in Mexico

Cancun (Mexico), Aug 13 (EFE) .- The hotel company RIU hopes to resume soon the construction works of its hotel in the area of Punta Nizuc (Cancun) after a new favorable ruling that revokes the definitive suspension that had paralyzed the construction site.

According to a statement released this Friday, RIU assures that “once again, justice agrees and endorses the development of the chain’s project” in Punta Nizuc after a long commercial dispute.

After the favorable ruling of the Third Collegiate Court, RIU considers that “once again, the courts ruled that there is no legitimate interest in the accusations against the hotel project that RIU is developing in the area, and no environmental damage is proven” says the statement.

In the same way, it was confirmed that no evidence was presented to justify the suspension or the statements of the plaintiff, adds the Spanish hotel chain.

The judgment of the Third Collegiate Court reiterates what the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation resolved in the amparo trial, as well as what the Eighteenth Collegiate Court, based in Mexico City, decided that “the project is in accordance with the human right to a healthy environment “.

The RIU chain highlighted that thanks to strict compliance with legal norms “it has managed to defend itself from a long string of legal attacks, for commercial purposes, propitiated to stop the construction of the hotel that will represent healthy competition in Punta Nizuc.”

In total, RIU has faced 20 amparo and 3 nullity lawsuits, having obtained favorable resolutions in the 11 that have already been settled, so it is expected that the work workers will be reinstated and construction will resume shortly. .
