On August 13, FX revealed the premiere date for the much-anticipated Ryan Murphy series Grotesquerie.
The horror drama is set to debut on September 25 at 10 p.m. EDT on FX, and will be available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
Grotesquerie is penned and co-created by Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken. The series is produced by 20th Television.
The storyline revolves around a string of gruesome crimes in a small town. Detective Lois Tryon, played by Niecy Nash-Betts, finds these crimes unsettlingly personal, suspecting that someone—or something—might be taunting her.
Tryon, whose personal life is in turmoil due to a strained relationship with her daughter and a husband in long-term hospital care, as well as her own inner struggles, allies with Sister Megan, portrayed by Micaela Diamond. Megan is a nun and a journalist for the Catholic Guardian.
Sister Megan brings to the table a troubled past and a belief in humanity’s potential for goodness, contrasting sharply with Lois’s fear that darkness is consuming the world. As they piece together clues, the two find themselves entangled in a menacing web that seems to generate more questions than answers.
Joining the cast are Courtney B. Vance, Lesley Manville, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Raven Goodwin, and Travis Kelce.
Directing duties for the series are helmed by Murphy, Max Winkler, Alexis Martin Woodall, and Elegance Bratton.
