A commission of deputies of the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador issued an opinion on Monday for the plenary to vote for the 2023 state budget for 8,902.7 million dollars, according to the Legislative Branch.
“The deputies issue a favorable opinion, in order to approve the General State Budget 2022, which amounts to 8,902.7 million,” the source said on social networks.
The Legislative Assembly, with a large pro-government majority, is expected to vote on Tuesday in its weekly session on the state budget.
This budget was presented last September by the Government of Nayib Bukele, and is 11.7% higher than the one approved for 2022, which was 7,967 million dollars.
According to the Minister of Finance, Zelaya the budget deficit for 2023 will be 472 million dollars, but local press reports indicate that it is expected that debt of 1,139.3 million will also be approved to complete the financing.
The minister said in September that “between health, education and security accumulate 3,471 million dollars” and added that public investment amounts to 1,739 million dollars, “45 million additional to those scheduled for this year.”
