Sandeep Unnikrishnan, A simple boy from Kerala, made it to the National Defense Academy and then to the battlefields. Sandeep was the epitome soldier who sacrificed to safeguard the nation from the boom of terrorism. Sandeep Unnikrishnan was the true hero who rose from lieutenant to Commander and served the Indian Army. 

Unfortunately, Sandeep Unnikrishnan became the martyred Sandeep Unnikrishnan in the 26/11 Mumbai blast. After fulfilling his obligation as army personnel, he staked his life to save the commoners from the attack. And while coming with the terrorists head to head, he becomes a martyr and rests for eternity.

Light on the Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s Springtime

Born in a family where the disciple is foremost, Sandeep Unnikrishnan was born in Kozhikode, Kerala, on March 15, 1977. Commander Sandeep was the only son born in the house of an ISRO scientist and retired officer. 

Sandeep Unnikrishnan was a brilliant student in academia. He did his schooling at Frank Anthony Public School and graduated in science over time; Sandeep Unnikrishnan got exposure in various fields, and he chose to dedicate his life to the Indian Army. 

In 1995, Sandeep Unnikrishnan joined the dream place of every defense aspirant, the NDA National Defense Academy; after four years of strict training and fervor desire, Sandeep Unnikrishnan passed the last stage called Antim Pag in defense, for those students who are competent enough to fight on the battlegrounds. 

When Sandeep Crossed the Antim Pag, he was just a teen with a dream to serve the nation till his last breath; Sandeep was honored with the post of lieutenant of the 7th Battalion of Bihar Regiment. And since he stepped into the borders, he was posted in many key sensitive regions and assisted Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan.

Sandeep Unnikrishnan was a calm, focused, and strategic individual who knew the importance of being visionary while fighting on borders; these traits of Sandeep made him distinct from other fellow army personnel.

Achievements Sandeep Adorned With Hitherto

From his senior officer to junior cadets, Sandeep Unnikrishnan was famous for his diplomatic thinking and vigilant fighting ability. Over time, Sandeep gained the trust of his senior delegates on his heroism and generosity, which made him part of the 1999 Kargil War. 

Sandeep Unnikrishnan performed exceptionally well and truly defined that “wars are won with mind before an action.” Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s strategic thinking reflected the war’s impact and turned the tables in favor of India.  

After winning the Kargil War single-handedly, the Indian Army promoted the young lieutenant to Captain in 2003. Sandeep Unnikrishnan became an integral element of the Indian Army’s confidential strategy committee and the enactment team. 

After becoming the Captain, it was unconquerable to tame Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s devotion to the army in just a couple of years; Sandeep got promoted to Major in 2005 and was poised toward glory and victory.

Sandeep Unnikrishnan has shown his fierceness in the battleground. It was his time to achieve more than titles and shift his career to NSG, National Security Guard, and young the Black Cats Club in 2006 while striving to serve the most difficult and ruthless domain of the Indian Army.

Operation Black Tornado: A History Made With Unparalleled Heroism

After commencing at SAG, Sandeep Unnikrishnan was in charge of fastening the command of many operations, which were directly oriented to protecting the lives of commoners and preventing chaos in the country. 

On 26/11, South Bombay’s luxurious hotel, The Taj Mahal Hotel, was seized by the terrorist, and visitors were clenched in terrible situations. Sandeep Unnikrishnan as the captain commander of group 51 of SAG, made efforts to evacuate the visitors and shoot the terrorist down to the death.  

Operation Balck Tornado was the undertaking that was needed to cater with the utmost caution because there were visitors who were the hostage by terrorists. Sandeep Unnikrishnan, with his 10 team members, walked down the stairs to the sixth floor, and while going upstairs, they tried to vacate the women hostage from the clench of terrorists. 

After getting baffled by the heroic actions of the Indian Army, terrorism bombarded the gas bombs, and no one could see through anything; taking advantage of the situation, terrorists escaped the floor. But Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s rapid movement catches them, and while he is going to shoot them, Unnikrishnan gets shot in the back and falls. 

Bullets penetrated Unnikrishnan’s back fatally, and the hero was fighting for his life in the hospital. He couldn’t survive and chose the path of eternal peace. 

Sandeep was the virtue for the nation and atop up as the messiah for hostages in Taj Mahal Hotel on 26/11. After his death, Sandeep Unnikrishnan was respected with the highest gallantry award, Ashoka Chakra, for his superior actions and unparalleled courage. Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s mother received the award on his behalf.

What Sandeep Unnikrishnan Left behind?

Joining the army is the toughest decision that has to be borne by the family. Sandeep Unnikrishnan left his beloved family and wife behind; his wife, Neha Unnikrishnan, was devastated, and so were his parents. 

Sandeep Unnikrishnan died the same year he got married to Neha Unnikrishnan, but eventually, she got no options but to move on with the sad demise of her husband.

To respect the great courage of Unnikrishnan, a movie, “Major,”  was directed after him to make his bravery and sacrifice known to all. And the film was released on Silver Screen, and fans showed their utter reverence for Late. Commander Sandeep Unnikrishnan. 

Late integrated a charitable trust and a memorial. Commander Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s parents. The belief is a non-profit organization where his parents cherished the belongings of Sandeep Unnikrishnan.
