Scarlett Johansson played Black Widow for the first time in Iron Man 2, in 2010. Little did the young actress know that her character would rise to the levels of popularity she reached and that she would live in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a long nine years. The fate of Natasha Romanoff is known to all who saw Avengers: Endgame. She sacrifices her life in Vormir to obtain the Soul Gem.
Black Widow arrives on this strange planet accompanied by her friend Hawkeye. The mission of both is to obtain the Soul Gem. But the price of this item is high, as revealed by its guardian, Red Skull. The value of this stone is a life. Then both heroes decide to sacrifice themselves and even fight each other to give their lives. Finally Natasha is the one who jumps into the void giving everything for the mission.
Scarlett Johansson and the death of Black Widow
“It’s funny because I had all kinds of mixed reactions towards his final destination in Endgame. It made sense to me that he would sacrifice himself, not only for the greater good of humanity, but actually for his friends, which was the heart and the reason for that. She’s good”, stressed the actress.
joe russian, one of the directors of Avengers: Endgame, stated that there was no better “final point” for the character that his sacrifice. “Death is not always a bad thing. It can be a noble, spiritual and heroic end. If you sacrifice yourself for millions your end will be powerful”, mused the filmmaker.
There is still room for one more story Black Widow in the MCU when she joins the family that accompanied her before the Avengers: Red Guardian (David Harbour), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) y Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz). They must face their past and an elusive villain with the ability to copy any move: Taskmaster.
The events of this latest adventure occur after Captain America: Civil War. David Harbour pointed out that the good thing is that the public “you know the mythology” of the character and knows what will happen after the tape.
