Selena Quintanilla gained immense popularity and touched the hearts of many with her music and fashion sense. She was born on April 16, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas, to Marcella Zamora and Abraham Quintanilla. Her father recognized the musical talent of his three children and formed a music group, Selena y Los Dinos, which included Selena as the main vocalist, her sister Suzette on drums, and her brother Abraham Quintanilla III on guitar.

They started their journey by performing at small events like fairs, weddings, and festivals. Though they initially struggled, by 1984, they had established a strong fanbase. They recorded six studio albums with smaller labels before signing a contract with EMI Latin in 1989. The same year, they released their first Spanish album composed entirely by Selena, and Chris Perez joined the band to play electric guitar.

By 1994, Selena had become a sensation in the Latin music industry and was crowned the Queen of Tex-Mex after she released the album “Amor Prohibido.” She also set the trend for tight jumpsuits and beaded buestiers which became a fashion statement at that time.

In 1995, Selena released the album “Live!” which included some of her hit songs and went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Mexican-American Music Album. She was nominated for Artistic Career shortly after. Her last performance was on February 26, 1995.

Tragically, on March 31, 1995, Selena was shot dead by her former fan club president, Yolanda Saldivar, in a hotel located in Corpus Christi, Texas. The news of her death shattered her fans and loved ones, marking one of the darkest moments in the music industry.

Selena was not only known for her music but also for her business and fashion sense. Before her death, she had accumulated a net worth of $25 million. Her legacy continues to live on, and even after 28 years of her death, her family continues to promote her music. They recently released the single “Como Te Quiero Yo A Ti” under the Warner Music Latina label, which has been an instant hit.

Selena will always be remembered as one of the most iconic and influential figures who left behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
