“Shingeki no Kyojin” (“Attack on Titan” in English or “Attack on the Titans” in Spanish) became one of the most popular manga and anime series in history. Its great success is due in large part to its intense action and a wide range of memorable characters.
Adapted to the anime by Wit Studio, “Attack on Titan” is set in a fantasy world in which people are forced to live in settlements surrounded by giant walls that protect them from the Titans, a seemingly senseless race of giants, humanoids who roam the earth devouring humans with those that cross.
The story centers on the protagonist Eren Jaeger, a young man who joins the army after the wall that protects his hometown is breached by titans who killed his mother. While the followers of “Shingeki no Kyojin” know the chapters in detail, there is something that perhaps has gone unnoticed by some: the incredible theory that confirms a time loop.
Fans of “Attack on Titan” they have woven one of the most shocking theories in history: the series is in a time loop. Everything indicates that the story we see has already been presented countless times and everything seems to originate in the first chapter of the manga, called “For you in 2000 years.”
Eren finds himself under a tree and suddenly awakens: “Why am I here? Somehow, I feel like I’ve had an extremely long dream, ”he says. In that dream he sees invasions of titans and the death of his mother, ability that he has to bring the Attack Titan and the Founding Titan. However, until that moment Eren did not possess the power.
These visions are made possible by the power of Ymir and its history, since its existence dates back 2000 years. When he dies, after inheriting the powers of the Titans to his descendants, his soul remains in the “Coordinate”, a place where time does not exist.
In this way, Ymir is connected to the characters and can send information. This would explain Mikasa’s headaches and visions, since it shows her images of the world where they had made other types of decisions. That parallel life that the young woman sees would be the one she would have if she escaped with Eren and convinced him to leave behind his revenge against the titans.
“For you in 2000 years” gives us some signs of this time loop full of bad decisions and unnecessary deaths. The episode is shown as follows: Mikasa did not talk about her feelings to Eren and Eren focused on fighting the Titans. In this way, the cycle of time would already be broken.
Eren, as the bearer of the Founding Titan, has the ability to travel in time, so this theory also indicates that instead of being Ymir who gives information to Mikasa, it is Jaeger himself.
Likewise, the Eren’s visions of “For you in 2000 years” would be explained, with the aim of returning to the past to change things and repeat history, but with some changes.
On the other hand, Eren is said to be stranded on a timeline and repeats his story multiple times for being part of the time loop. The way to escape this is to send his memories to the past, precisely to Eren Kruger, which is why he tells Grisha that he must protect Mikasa and Armin, so that in the future he prepares his son and tries to change things.
