Shoji Meguro, one of the most recognizable composers of Atlus and author of many of the soundtracks of RPG sagas as influential as Person O Shin Megami Tensei, has announced that he is leaving Atlus after more than two decades of total commitment to the Japanese co-company to embark on new projects of independent cut. Shoji Meguro came to Atlus in the mid-90s to dedicate himself to creating the soundtracks franchises like Persona or Shin Megami Tensei. So much so, that he has been one of the key artists for the company even in recent titles like Persona 5 Royal, Persona 5 Strikers, and even Project Re Fantasy. So much so, that the composer left Atlus last September, although he has not communicated it until now; As a curiosity, Meguro himself has revealed that in recent years he has made the music of different independent titles under the pseudonym of Megarock.

Of course, despite embarking on the creation of music for the indie market, the composer assures that will continue to collaborate with Atlus due to the close professional and personal relationship he has with the company: “As I focus on developing my own independent game, I will continue to work with Atlus on game music, so I hope that those who were concerned about the sudden announcement will feel relieved, ”says the musician.
