Skyrim is back… again. Bethesda has announced that it will launch The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for next-gen consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, in a new version that will bring some visual enhancements and unique features. This collection will also be available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, although without these improvements.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that this version will be available for PS5 after the acquisition of Bethesda by Xbox, which put in doubt that the games of the franchise would continue to arrive on Sony consoles. In this case, at least, it will be available, although we do not know more details about the next and expected installment of the saga of which we continue to know practically nothing.
This Skyrim Anniversary Edition will include 10 years of content and some new features, like a new free fishing mechanic. Also, if you have the Special Edition of Skyrim, there is an upgrade path to the Anniversary Edition, although it will not be free even if you have the game on other platforms.
Originally released in 2011, Skyrim has since received numerous reissues, and we’ve gotten to see jokes on this matter from even Bethesda. The latest remastering for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One was released in 2016, when it celebrated its fifth anniversary. Will we ever celebrate a 15th anniversary of Skyrim? We do not rule it out.
Skyrim 10th Anniversary Edition will be officially launched on November 11, 2021 on all the aforementioned platforms, although remember that the improvements will only be available in the new generation.
