Mexico City, Jun 22 (EFE) .- Mexican businessman Carlos Slim met this Tuesday with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the head of the Government of the capital, Claudia Sheinbaum, to discuss the collapse of line 12, which left 26 dead and in whose construction his company Grupo Carso participated.

The meeting took place behind closed doors at the National Palace, the president’s residence located in the central Zócalo of the capital, and so far none of the people present gave statements on the issues discussed in the meeting, which lasted just one hour.

“I would not like to advance further on this issue. In due course the information that has to be given will be given, it is important that it be so. There is absolutely nothing to hide but it is important that it is known up to there,” Sheinbaum said at a press conference when asked about her meeting with the employer and the president.

The mayor insisted that there is a technical table that is being carried out that “is independent and that is very important” from the work of the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City.

On the other hand, he said that it is the responsibility of the capital government to rehabilitate and reinforce line 12 so that it can return to operation as soon as possible so that those who used it daily can regain access.

“It is important to reactivate, but the most important thing is that it happens safely, it is important that the president is attentive to it. (…) We will continue to inform the public as we move forward. Be certain that it will to have absolute transparency in everything, “he added.

The meeting took place after the independent expert report on the subway accident of May 3 was presented last week in which, when the structure on which the wagons ran collapsed, 26 people died.

Last Wednesday, the Norwegian company DNV presented the first of its three reports on the causes of the accident in which it pointed to “structural failures” related to construction.

They specified that there was a poor or incomplete weld and that different types of concrete had been mixed in, as well as missing bolts.
