Snapdragon 888+ 5G: Qualcomm introduces the most powerful processor for Android smartphones

The American company Qualcomm has presented its new processor, the Snapdragon 888+ 5G, focused on power and artificial intelligence, and designed for high-end smartphones with Android operating system.

That chip is an upgrade from the Snapdragon 888 5G, but with a Kryo 680 central processing unit that runs at speeds up to 3 GHz. Also, among other things, the new microprocessor is equipped with eight cores (one Cortex X1, three Cortex A78s and four Cortex A55s), an Adreno 660 graphics processing unit and a Snapdragon X60 5G modem. The latter facilitates a maximum download speed of 7.5 gigabits per second.

Additionally, the Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G includes a sixth-generation engine based on artificial intelligence which promises a performance increase of more than 20% for tasks related to the camera and noise cancellation in the sound system. The maximum resolution of cameras on smartphones with the most powerful Qualcomm processor to date is 200 megapixels.

According to the Engadget portal, foresees that the first phones Smartphones equipped with this new processor arrive in the third quarter of 2021, among which would be flagship devices from Asus, Honor, Motorola, Vivo, Xiaomi and Samsung.
