Lima, Nov 5 (EFE) .- More than 510,000 internal trips were registered in Peru during the bridge for All Saints’ Day, which generated an economic impact of about 70 million dollars, according to a study presented this Friday by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism.

This exceeded the projection made by the same ministry, which anticipated around half a million trips and an impact of 66 million dollars, between October 30 and November 2, with an average expenditure per tourist of 515 soles (128 dollars ).

In some regions, the hotel occupancy rate was around 80%, as was the case in northern Tumbes, Piura, La Libertad and Amazonas, as well as in central Ica.

24% traveled within their own region, while 76% went to another destination in the country, with a greater preference for the northern beaches, the Paracas national reserve, Cusco, Ica and the Cordillera Blanca.

To get around, 45.5% used interprovincial buses, 29.2% their own vehicle, 14.3% traveled by plane and 7.4% in tourism agency transport.

For accommodation, hotels (34.6%) were the preferred option, followed by hostels (22.7%), and houses of relatives or friends (19.9%), with an average stay of three nights.

The study was prepared by the General Directorate for Research and Studies on Tourism and Handicrafts of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, based on data from regional governments and national tourism service companies.
