Sony enters the electric car market. At its CES press conference, the Japanese entertainment group Sony announced that it would found a new company: Sony Mobility Inc. will in future be dedicated to the commercialization of e-cars. The costs involved in founding the company remained open. The investment cannot be entirely risk-free.
The positive response to the concept of the Vision S electric car initially surprised him, said Sony’s CEO Kenichiro Yoshida in Las Vegas. Now he is convinced that it is worthwhile to further develop the vehicles himself. He immediately presented the prototype of the Vision S electric SUV.
Yoshida explained that 40 sensors inside ensure security; further sensors would be needed for adaptability and entertainment. A total of over 100 sensors were installed in the first Vision S concept car.
