Horizon Forbidden West was at the center of controversy last Thursday due to Sony’s decision to offer upgrade from PS4 to PS5 only in its Deluxe, Collector and Regalla versions. As a result of the announcement, user complaints cascaded, to the point that just a few hours ago it was Jim Ryan, PlayStation boss who has decided to backtrack: finally we can update for free.
Through a statement on the company’s official blog, Ryan acknowledged that the atmosphere was rarefied after announcing the controversial way in which the game would be updated from one version to another: “Thursday was going to be a day of celebration for the incredible Guerrilla team, working to launch the game on February 22, but it is very clear that the reservation offer that we confirm they were not successful”He comments.
Jim Ryan remembers his promises
As he himself recalls, Sony promised last year to offer free updates for its games released in both generations, although the delay of the game to 2022 due to the “profound impact” of the pandemic that we are experiencing seems to have changed the plans of the company. In any case, there is no longer cause for concern: “Players who purchase Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version completely free of charge”, afirma Ryan.
