Sony Will Release Two Marvel Movies in 2025 and 2026
Sony has spent many years developing Marvel movies, especially Spider-Man, a character it owns the movie rights to and has no intention of letting go. Now that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (92%) has been released, the studio reveals that it has more plans for its Marvel characters, announcing new projects and lots of content for the future.

Since then they have worked together on several Spider-Man movies. However, in 2015, Sony and Marvel Studios reached a new deal that allowed Spider-Man to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Under this agreement, Sony retains the rights to the character and continues to produce the Spider-Man movies, but now benefits from collaboration and crossover with the MCU. This partnership has been lucrative for both Sony and Marvel, allowing Spider-Man to become part of the successful shared universe and providing fans with exciting storylines and on-screen character appearances.
But Sony is not entirely dependent on Marvel Studios and is perfectly capable of producing their own Spider-Man related movies. There we have the cases of Venom (35%) and Venom: Carnage Unleashed (45%); Spider-Man: A New Universe (100%) and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (92%); Let’s also not forget that the studio is already working on a Madame Web movie, Spidey’s enemy, starring Dakota Johnson, Emma Roberts and Sydney Sweeney. No matter what Marvel Studios does or undoes on its property, Sony is constantly working on new movies that can expand the story of Peter Parker, and other characters linked to him, on the big screen.

The Wrap is reporting that Sony has added two new movies to its schedule. The first is named, for the moment, as “Untitled Sony/Marvel” and is scheduled for November 8, 2024; while the second, “Untitled Sony/Marvel Live Action,” will hit theaters on June 27, 2025. The website doesn’t offer official details about which movies it might be, but it does suggest that for the live-action terrain it could be as expected. Spider-Man 4 with Tom Holland; El Muerto is also on the table, with Bad Bunny as the main star; Madame Web comes out of the game since its release date has been confirmed for February 16, 2024.
A new Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland is something that everyone wants to see. The 27-year-old actor has managed to capture the youthful essence and fearlessness of Peter Parker in an authentic and compelling way, making him one of the most beloved Spider-Man by fans. His ability to combine his charisma, humor, and vulnerability has been key to connecting with audiences and making us care about the fate of the spidery hero. On the other hand, the chemistry established between Holland and other characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe adds an extra layer of fun and excitement to the story. In this regard, the interpreter recently stated the following for The Hollywood Reporter:
“It was me, Amy, [Pascal, executive producer] Kevin Feige, [president of Marvel Studios] Rachel [O’Connor], sometimes other Marvel executives. It is a collaborative process. The first meetings were about: ‘Why would we do this again?’ And I think we found the reason. I’m very, very happy with where we are creatively. But I’m also a little worried about that. There’s a bit of a stigma about the fourth movie in all franchises. I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise and there’s a part of me that wants to stand tall and pass the baton to the next lucky kid to bring this character to life.”
