Spider-Man 4: JK Simmons admits that its cancellation was something “disheartening”

Spider-Man 4 never materialized, but we do know that it was in Sony’s plans as part of the saga led by Sam Raimi Y Tobey Maguire acting as Peter Parker. This situation took by surprise back in 2008 the lovers of the universe of the tremamuros; now, so many years later, J.K. Simmons (JJ Jameson) recognizes that for him it was a heartbreaking situation.

In statements to The Hollywood Reporter On the occasion of the premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home on December 16, the renowned actor – who returns in his original role, as we saw at the end of Far From Home in 2019 – has admitted that he had a hard time when he learned that the Sam Raimi saga came to an end after the third movie, that there would be no more JJ Jameson in the spider-verse interpreted by his figure.

Luckily for him, although he is transferred to another universe, his character returns and does so with the same actor, the same attitude and the same spirit: pointing out Spider-Man as a criminal, guilty of many of the problems that surround Manhattan.

“After the Sam Raimi trilogy and then when they turned the page… it was heartbreaking, I’m not going to lie. And I was like, ‘Oh well, it was amazing fun, and I’m so glad I had that opportunity,’ ”he acknowledges, but it was hardly a relief. Despite the criticisms leveled at Spider-Man 3 (2007), there is no doubt that the popularity of Spider-Man in the cinematic universe was supported: they were huge box office hits.

Spider-Man: No Way Home, the biggest box office hit of 2021?

It will not be until this December 16 when we see the much loved one on the screen again J.K. Simmons in Spider-Man: No Way Home, called to become one of the greatest phenomena of superhero cinema of recent times. Tom Holland as the protagonist accompanied by classic villains such as Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Lizard, Electro … and who knows what else.

Regarding that canceled Spider-Man 4, it is confirmed that he was going to have Vulture as one of the main villains; also to Lagarto and Felicia Hardy as The Vulturess. Although Mysterio was rumored, it was denied that he was in Raimi’s plans.
