Spider-Man star joins new vampire series

Spider-Man star Jacob Batalon will join Syfy’s Reginald the Vampire series. The series is based on Johnny B. Truant’s Fat Vampire book series.

The Hollywood ReporterBatalon, who plays Peter Parker’s Spider-Man: Homecoming friend Ned Leeds, is transitioning to Syfy’s new vampire series Reginald the Vampire, according to . The first 10 episodes of the series have been confirmed.

In the series, “Reginald Baskin (Batalon) finds himself in a world inhabited by beautiful, fit, and arrogant vampires and must overcome all kinds of obstacles. These include a girl he loves but can’t be with, a troubled executive at his job, and vampire leaders who want to kill him. But fortunately, he realizes his own strengths and struggles with obstacles.”

Reginald the Vampire is written by Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks, Chucky). Peyton will also serve as executive producer and showrunner for the series. Jeremiah Chechik will direct the series, while Todd Berger and Lindsay Macadam will serve as executive producers. Julie DiCresce will also co-produce the production.

The first book in Truant’s Fat Vampire series was released in 2012. The first book was followed by five books. These are Tastes Like Chicken, All You Can Eat, Harder Better Fatter Stronger, Fatpocalypse and Survival of the Fattest. Truant was also three more books set in the same universe. However, a work he wrote with this project will be adapted for television for the first time.

Other projects on Syfy are Don Mancini’s Chucky, the 10-episode Day of the Dead, Bring It On Halloween spinoff and a modernized version of Slumber Party Massacre.

Batalon will also be on the big screen as Ned in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The movie will be released on December 17. The film is expected to bring together the universes of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland.
