Jedi Master Yoda (nothing to do with little Grogu) stands out for his extraordinary connection to the force, as well as his long life. He also draws attention for his strange way of speaking. Strong in strength he is, wise in his knowledge as well. Why does he use such a peculiar order in the sentences? Some may ask. The answer has been provided by himself Frank Oz, the actor who has brought the character to life since he first appeared in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
“It’s funny you ask because I was just taking a look at the original script for The Empire Strikes Back the other day and there was a bit of a strange syntax in it, but also a very colloquial way of talking about Yoda ”, recalled the actor in an interview with The Guardian. “So I said to George, ‘Can I do it this way?’ And he said, ‘Of course, it feels right.’

Defender of the Last Jedi
After his appearance in Star Wars: Rebels, one of the animated series based on the galactic saga, Frank Oz reprized his role as Yoda in Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, a film that received criticism and attacks from some fans of the series. The actor, however, gave his support to Rian Johnson, the director of the film, who was the main victim of the attacks. “Rian is a great director, screenwriter and person. Please try to understand that the writers and directors are not there to fulfill people’s expectations. Good work breaks expectations, “he said.
Oz “loves” The Last Jedi, as he commented on a panel during South by Southwest, back in 2019. “The movie did not meet his expectations”says about fans who disown the movie. “But as filmmakers we are not here to meet people’s expectations.”
