Stranger Things Season 4 is getting closer, emphasizing the term “creeping.” Stranger Things season 4 release dates can’t arrive soon enough as a new Stranger Things season 4 trailer introduced a terrifying new villain who seems to be related to the show’s finale.
The major announcement comes months after Netflix released a new trailer that features Eleven’s new hairdo, Hopper wielding a flamethrower, and more. Most importantly, it verifies the publication date, which we previously knew.
While Stranger Things season 4 may not be arriving anytime soon, there are plenty of reasons to be eager for the series’ return. Some leaked set images, such as those depicting a significant event at Hawkins High School. There is more on it later.
The Release Date For Stranger Things Season 4 Has Been Set
Netflix has revealed the release date for Stranger Things season 4. The first half of the new season will premiere on May 27, followed by the second half on July 1. There’s no information on how many episodes each batch will include.
What’s the significance of the two release dates? The showrunners, the Duffer brothers, stated that the next season is the most ambitious ever, which means it will take longer to complete than expected. Therefore, they split up the episodes and distributed them into two parts. “It’ll be here shortly,” the two remarked. “It’s larger than it’s ever been.”

The series was “scheduled to come out early [2021],” according to David Harbour, who portrays Hopper but was delayed owing to the coronavirus outbreak, which prevented numerous movies and TV programs from filming. The series had started shooting before the epidemic but had to stop due to the outbreak.
It’s also worth mentioning that Season 5 of Stranger Things will be the program’s last season.
The present narrative will be wrapped up before the end of the season. The showrunners have also hinted at “many more interesting tales to tell inside the universe of Stranger Things,” which, if we’re being honest, seems like an open invitation for someone to come along and create a spin-off.
Who Will Return For Stranger Things Season 4?
Hopper is coming back. Stranger Things 4’s first teaser revealed that Hopper is still alive. When Jim Hopper (David Harbour) supposedly sacrificed himself so Joyce (Winona Ryder) could seal the doorway to the Upside Down and blow up the machine, it was the most heartbreaking moment of the Stranger Things 3 finale.
Hopper’s letter to Eleven added salt to the wound by stating his true feelings towards Eleven, although too late. David Harbour earlier told ET Online that he was working on a new project. “He did peek about a little bit, but he appeared to be imprisoned, then the machine burst,” Hopper, the enigmatic American in Russian custody, said.
There’s an American and a prisoner there. I’m not sure, but it strikes me as odd.” The Hawkins chief of police, on the other hand, will not have it easy. “He is imprisoned far from home in the frigid wastes of Kamchatka, where he will confront both human… and other threats,” the Duffers said in a letter.

The addition of new cast members has been revealed. Netflix revealed eight new cast members for Season 4, including three new series regulars: Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco, and Joseph Quinn, in November 2020. In a recurring role, horror veteran Robert Englund joins the cast. The official descriptions of the new characters are as follows:
Peter Ballard is played by Jamie Campbell Bower, a compassionate guy who works as an orderly at a mental facility. Will Peter, fed up with the savagery he sees every day, finally take a stand? Argyle, Jonathan’s (Charlie Heaton) new BFF, is played by Eduardo Franco.
Joseph Quinn plays Eddie Munson. He’s the leader of The Hellfire Club, Hawkins High’s official D&D club. Victor Creel, played by Robert Englund, is a strange and imposing man incarcerated in a mental facility in the 1950s for a terrible murder.
Sherman Augustus plays Lt. Colonel Sullivan. He’s an intelligent, no-nonsense guy who feels he knows how to end Hawkins’ depravity finally. Jason Carver, played by Mason Dye, is a wealthy athlete dating the most popular girl in school. Hawkins’ ideal world starts to crumble as a new evil approaches him.
Dmitri, a knowledgeable and courteous Russian jail guard, is played by Tom Wlaschiha. Is he, however, trustworthy? Yuri, a sleazy and unpredictable Russian smuggler who enjoys stupid jokes, cold hard cash, and crunchy type peanut butter, is played by Nikola Djuricko.
Erica will take on a more prominent role. Priah Ferguson, who portrays Lucas’ (Caleb McLaughlin) younger sister Erica, has been upgraded to series regular for the forthcoming fourth season. Dustin even gave Erica the gang’s Dungeons & Dragons set in the last minutes of the show. It’ll be interesting to see whether Erica has embraced her inner geek when the program returns.
What Is The Plot Of Stranger Things Season 4?
The majority of Stranger Things 4’s plot is unknown; however, when production started in February 2020, a short description was released, confirming that David Harbour’s Hopper would return and that the character wasn’t dead. Stranger Things 3 ended with Hopper killing himself in front of the massive vortex the Russians had created underneath Hawkins, Indiana. However, we were transferred to a Russian jail in a post-credits sequence, where guards discussed “the American” in one of their cells.
Hopper is imprisoned in Kamchatka, Russia, in Season 4 of Stranger Things, where “he will encounter both human… and other threats.” Indeed, we saw the Russians have their own Demogorgon in the Stranger Things 3 post-credits sequence.

Harbour teased a “resurrection” and “resurgence” for Hopper in an interview with Collider, comparing it to Gandalf’s metamorphosis in Lord of the Rings. According to the Duffer Brothers, season 4 will also go beyond Hawkins, Indiana, as seen by the teaser, which depicts the Byers completely involved in California life.
That doesn’t mean Season 4 will abandon Hawkins, as we know from the casting descriptions that the Hellfire Club – Hawkins High’s Dungeons & Dragons club – will play a significant part in the upcoming season.
According to the casting breakdown, we also know that at least half of the season focuses on a mental hospital and Robert Englund’s Victor Creel. The second teaser video indicated that we’d witness more flashbacks to Eleven’s childhood at Martin Brenner’s institution, including the namesake Rainbow Room. According to Shawn Levy, stranger Things 4’s ambitious tale takes place in three locales: Hawkins, Russia, and an unnamed third location.
