Billboard’s Latin Women in Music gala took place on May 6 in Miami, where numerous stars, including Thalia, Evaluna, Emilia, and Maria Becerra, walked the red carpet. The first of its kind in Latin music, the event hosted by Ivy Queen and Jacqueline Bracamontes aims to celebrate Latina artists, executives, and creatives who are promoting positive change, inclusion, and gender parity in the music industry.
At the event, Shakira will receive the first prize for Woman of the Year, while Ana Gabriel will be honored as a Living Legend. Emilia will receive the Rising Star award, María Becerra with the Visionary award, Evaluna with the Tradition and Future award, Goyo with the Change Agent award, and Thalia as Global Powerful.
The event will see presenters like Ludmilla, JP Saxe, Guaynaa, Lele Pons, Ha*Ash, Greeicy, Elena Rose, and Nicole Zignago, among others. The inaugural Mujeres Latinas en la Música event was announced earlier this year as an expansion of Billboard’s Women in Music franchise.
Billboard and Telemundo are working towards elevating Latin music globally and celebrating women who have made a concrete impact on Latin music through their artistic achievements or tangible actions that have resulted in recognition and opportunities for women, thereby bringing about positive change in the industry.
Mujeres Latinas En la Música is set to be aired exclusively on Telemundo and Peacock on Sunday, May 7, at 9 pm ET. Click here to read the full article.
