Count Joel Kinnaman among the many air travelers stranded by a massive tech outage. The actor found himself stuck in an airport overnight, forced to use the ground as a makeshift bed.
We caught up with the ‘Suicide Squad’ star at LAX on Friday. When asked about the tech outage’s impact on his travel plans, Joel narrated his nightmarish experience—a tale that resonated with countless others who had a turbulent end to their week.
The exhausted actor revealed it took him nearly 24 hours to travel across the country. His journey from Atlanta to Los Angeles was severely delayed due to the tech glitch. He, like many others, felt the strain of the situation.
Joel shared that he spent the night in the airport without even a pillow. Instead, he improvised by using something he had with him to rest his head on. And yes, he confirmed he literally slept on the floor. Anyone who’s been in a similar situation knows just how miserable that can be.
The cause of this chaos was a software update from CrowdStrike, leading to a global cyber outage. This disruption grounded thousands of flights, affected hospital operations, and even impacted preparations for the Paris Olympics.
Given that Joel was departing from Atlanta, it’s likely he was flying with Delta, one of the three major airlines hit hardest by the outage.
Despite the jetlag and a rough night, Joel managed to speak with us. Someone should get this man a Tempur-Pedic, STAT!
