Kingsman actor Taron Egerton spooked a devoted audience when he passed out mid-performance during the premiere of his new stage play, Cock. The Welsh actor, with strong stage roots and famous for playing Gary ” Eggsy ” Unwin in Kingsman: The Secret Service, has consolidated a film career around great roles such as Elton John in Dexter Fletcher’s musical biopic, Rocketman, which earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. The interpreter, after the scare, stated on his Instagram account that he was fine.

A theatrical release marred by the accident

The actor, who was very excited to get on stage and bring the play to life, has been promoting the premiere for months. Cock tells the story of a gay couple, played by Egerton and Jonathan Bailey, whose relationship begins to sink when one of them questions his sexuality after meeting the girl of his dreams. The book is written by Mike Bartlett and directed by Marianne Elliott, and is one of the big premieres of the season in London. However, as they explain from Deadline, Egerton collapsed in the first function.

“A doctor jumped on stage to treat him and a substitute had to finish the play in the final minutes. A doctor from the audience jumped on stage to attend to the 32-year-old actor, with the director intervening to calm the worried and frightened audience and promising a short break for the actor’s recovery. But his condition prevented the performance from continuing. To continue the play and the show, Egerton’s stand-in, Joel Harper-Jackson, was able to fill in for him in the final scenes of the play.

The actor went to his Instagram to explain that he was fine and that he would return with enthusiasm to the stage for future performances of the play. He also took the opportunity to thank the theater crew and his fellow cast members, particularly Harper-Jackson, whom he described as “an incredible actor and a lovely person.” Egerton, who will participate in Kingsman 3 , is one of the British figures with the greatest projection in the Seventh Art and a celebrity inside and outside its borders.
