Buenos Aires Executive Inaugurates New Metrobus Section

The Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, has inaugurated a new section of the Metrobus that connects the Retiro neighborhood with the La Boca neighborhood. The Chief of Staff, Felipe Miguel; the Minister of Transport and Public Works, Manuela López Menéndez; the Minister of Health, Fernán Quirós; and the Minister of Government, Jorge Macri, accompanied Rodríguez Larreta during the event.

Ninth Corridor in the City

This is the ninth corridor in the City, stretching two kilometers from the intersection between Paseo Colón and Independencia avenues to the intersection of Almirante Brown and Wenceslao Villafañe avenues. The new Metrobus incorporates 21 bus lines, improving road safety and the quality of travel for more than 250,000 people, allowing a reduction in travel time of 30%. The Juan B. Justo Metrobus, as well as the 9 de Julio and the connection of the City with the province of Buenos Aires through the 25 de Mayo Highway Metrobus and the North Metrobus, were started up earlier.

Words From the Head of the Government

Rodríguez Larreta expressed his satisfaction with the launch, stating, “The measures that transform reality are not imposed on blows, they must be built together…If you use the Metrobus, you live better”. He proudly mentioned that the public transportation which revolutionized transit has contributed to the lives of a million and a half Argentines who circulate every day through the 64 kilometers that the network has today.

According to Rodríguez Larreta, “This is the first Metrobus to arrive in La Boca and it makes access to San Telmo, Parque Lezama and the Argerich Hospital easier.” He believed that the network’s expansion would continue to benefit those who use public transportation while decompressing traffic in the city. The head of the Buenos Aires government firmly believed that this measure could be replicated anywhere and be a reality that contributes to the lives of all Argentines.
