The Brazilian Attorney General’s Office has opened six preliminary investigations that compromise the president, Jair Bolsonaro, before the Supreme Federal Court (STF).

In total, there were ten complaints for non-compliance with preventive health measures during the covid-19 crisis. As reported Or Balloon, The investigations are under summary secrecy at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office.

The Prosecutor’s Office will also investigate the conduct of Defense Minister Braga Netto, former Health Minister Marcelo Queiroga, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, son of the president, and Deputy Carla Zambelli, among others.

In addition, there is already a complaint for embezzlement in the purchase of the Covaxin vaccine that is investigated by the Federal Police based on a report from the Supreme Court magistrate, Rosa Weber.

Nine crimes

These investigations are a consequence of the conclusions reached by the Parliamentary Investigation Commission of the Senate (CPI), which investigated the government’s management during the pandemic, after six months of work.

Last October, the ICC asked to indict Bolsonaro for nine crimes. Specifically, the commission concluded that the president was responsible for crimes of “epidemic resulting in death; violation of preventive health measures; irregular use of public funds; incitement to crime; falsification of private documents; quackery; crime of prevaricate; crime against humanity and crime of responsibility “.

The commission considered that Bolsonaro’s negligence, incompetence and anti-scientific denialism would have been the cause of the “stratospheric” mortality of the epidemic in Brazil, where more than 615,000 people have died since the beginning of the health crisis, in February of last year.
