The companions will return to the terminals of the Spanish airports as of this Friday

The Government will remove from this Friday the limits on access to Spanish airports, so that from now on travelers will be able to go to the facilities accompanied by family the one of friends if they so wish, as published this Thursday by the Official State Gazette (BOE).

This new norm modifies Royal Decree-Law 26/2020, of July 7,
that only allowed access to the airport to passengers with a valid ticket or boarding pass, in the six hours prior to the scheduled departure of the flight, as well as strictly necessary companions of minors, people with reduced mobility or other duly cause justified.

In this way, the Government has agreed to adapt the current regulations to the evolution of the pandemic, with the aim of contribute to the recovery of economic activity and the gradual return to normality, in particular with regard to the reactivation of tourism.

With the lifting of restrictions, the family and friends of people who leave or arrive at Spanish airports they can accompany you inside the terminals as before the pandemic. Its entrance may be limited at times of great influx to avoid crowds. The Government recalls that within the airport facilities, the hygienic and sanitary measures established by the authorities will continue to be mandatory.

Safe airports

The Government had imposed this restriction in July 2020
to cope with the pandemic. During all this time, and since the beginning of the health crisis, Aena It has implemented procedures and sanitary measures in the 46 airports of its network located in the national territory.
