The 2021 Emmy Award nominees met Tuesday and include the biggest names on television from the past year. The categories are very close, such as Best Actress in a Miniseries which has huge stars. However, among so many titles there was a forgotten one that drew attention: both Lucifer and Tom Ellis were excluded from the list. What happened?
The bad relationship between the awards and the supernatural show is not new because he was never chosen as a candidate. In the place of Comedy Series, the organizers chose Black-ish, Cobra Kai, Emily in Paris, Hacks, The Flight Attendant, El Método Kominsky, Pen 15 Y Ted Lasso.
The Emmy Awards forgot Lucifer and Tom Ellis
The same happened with the protagonist of the show: Ellis was never ternado and this time Anthony Anderson appeared in his place (Black-ish), Michael Douglas (The Kominsky Method), William H. Macy (Shameless), Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Kenan Thompson (Kenan).
Although Lucifer seemed to leave empty-handed, she was chosen for the category of Outstanding Choreography for Scripted Programming. Critics highlighted episode 10 of season 5 called “Karaoke Celestial”, where the choreographer Brooke Lipton put together a spectacular musical staging.
Curiously, that chapter divided the opinion of the fans of the Netflix series. While some praised the artistic creativity, others criticized that it strayed too far from the essence of the show. However, a Spoiler poll found that 68% liked what they saw on screen.
