The European Union (EU) and Japan have agreed to deepen their energy cooperation in terms of efficiency, liquefied natural gas and hydrogen, as indicated this Saturday by the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson.

The policy was expressed in that sense after holding his first meeting with the Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Yasutoshi Nishimura, after the discussions of the G20 Energy Ministers in Indonesia.

“We agree to deepen energy cooperation between the EU and Japan on energy efficiency, liquefied natural gas and hydrogen,” Simson wrote on his Twitter profile.

He added that Tokyo and Brussels also agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation on hydrogen “still this year.”
