As of the third quarter of 2021, the insurance industry paid 291,000 million pesos (mp) to its clients, reported the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS).
Norma Alicia Rosas Rodríguez, general director of AMIS, explained that the life line was the one with the highest amount with 141,287 million pesos paid in direct claims, a real increase of 16.4% compared to the same period in 2020, when 113,989 million pesos were recorded.
While accidents and illnesses reached a paid amount of 63,343 million pesos, a real variation of 22%, compared to the same period in 2020, when 48,995 million pesos was paid.
And in third place is the automobile branch with 48,578 million pesos, with a real variation of 6.8%, compared to the same period in 2020 when it registered 42,910 million pesos. And finally, damages without cars, with 21,712 million pesos.
The general director of AMIS explained that 177,124 cases have been treated so far in the pandemic, of which 132,766 are in the life branch, and 44,358 are in the major medical expenses branch. For these claims, 53,156.6 million pesos have been delivered to the insured.
Norma Alicia Rosas Rodríguez explained that between July and September 2021, insurance industry premiums represented 475,450 million pesos, an increase of 5.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, in real terms.
