The Killers pause London concert for Euro 2024 semifinal, play ‘Mr. Brightside’

England fans at The Killers concert in London experienced an unexpected treat on Wednesday night.

During their performance at The O2, the band displayed the concluding moments of the England vs. Netherlands Euro 2024 semifinal match on a big screen. This allowed concert-goers to witness England’s thrilling 2-1 victory live.

Social media erupted with videos showing the final moments of the match on the big screen, culminating in a shower of red and white streamers launched into the crowd once the victory was confirmed.

The Killers then launched into their iconic hit, “Mr. Brightside,” amplifying the excitement. The song, a fan favorite in the UK for over two decades, added to the euphoria of the night.

England owes its victory to late substitute Ollie Watkins, who scored the decisive goal in the 90th minute. Watkins had come on to replace captain Harry Kane, who had earlier scored from a penalty in the first half.

The Killers’ perfect timing—the song drop aligning with the final whistle—was the icing on the cake. Fans across social media showered praise on the band for creating such a memorable moment.

“Wow! England win live @thekillers show at @TheO2! Drop straight into Mr Brightside,” one user captured their video.

This win propels England to their second consecutive Euro final, where they will face Spain for the title on Sunday. The match kicks off at 3 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports App.
