One of the key considerations for smartphone manufacturers is the charging section. As batteries grow in size, the need for a more powerful charge grows too, so that charging times can be significantly reduced. This applies not just to wired charging, but also to wireless charging. Consequently, Google users may be disappointed if the company decides to leave Qi2 wireless charging out of the Google Pixel 8.

Without an improvement in wireless charging on the next Google Pixel, users may be missing out. In recent years, wireless charging has become increasingly popular as a convenient way to power devices. However, simply adding wireless charging isn’t enough – devices must go through regulatory tests to achieve Qi certification. Recently, the Qi standard has received an update to improve magnetic coupling with charging platforms. As a result, many devices could gain this feature this year, but the Google Pixel 8 may not.

According to 9to5Google, the Mountain View company could use the same wireless charging technology in the upcoming device as in the previous version. This could mean that the Google Pixel 8 keeps features that users have seen this year. However, the terminal could still receive an update after its launch to receive the necessary certification from the WPC.

Despite the speculation, there is still room for improvement in the device. Google may have some surprises in store for users when it comes to wireless charging. Ultimately, we’ll have to wait to see whether the Google Pixel 8 gains Qi certification and get a clearer picture of the company’s strategy for the device.
