One character much loved by Marvel fans has come to the series Hawk Eye in the final moments of the last episode of the MCU series for Disney +. Furthermore, their presence pushes the show in a new direction, and It could well have long-term consequences for the Marvel Cinematic Universe..
The fact is that the last scene of episode 5 of Hawkeye reveals that Wilson Fisk aka the King of Crime, is the mysterious villain in charge of the tracksuit mafia. Not only that, but it is being portrayed by Vincent D’Onofrio, who played the same character on the Daredevil series de Netflix.
In this point, it is not clear if D’Onofrio is exactly the same Fisk seen in Daredevil, or another version of the character. But nevertheless, his costume in the series for Disney + replicates the white jacket used in Daredevil, so it looks like it could be the same.
All Netflix Marvel shows took place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but were informally kept adjacent to the MCU. While the events of The Avengers would influence those shows (in particular, the Battle of New York, which was often referenced), Netflix shows did not intersect with MCU movies at any point. With the cancellation of all Netflix shows and the beginning of “true” TV series for Disney +, many wondered if the Daredevil and Jessica Jones stories were still considered canon. Now, D’Onofrio’s return as Kingpin suggests Netflix series are still relevant to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Further backing this up, MCU chief Kevin Feige has said that if Daredevil returns to the screens, he will be played by Charlie Cox, who starred in the Netflix series alongside D’Onofrio.
Hawk Eye seems to promise a clash between Clint Barton and Wilson Fisk in their finale next week, which would be the first major crossover between a Netflix character and one of the MCU movies. Could this be the beginning of those Netflix characters finally finding their way into mainstream MCU? Only time will tell.
