Acorn TV just premiered the series created by and starring Sally Lindsay. We tell you what are the most striking elements of the British show.
If it’s about mystery series Acorn TV It has in its catalog a large number of options to see. Very recently, it was released Queens of Mystery and this Thursday the platform surprises with another great premiere of a similar style. Is about The Madame Blanc Mysteries, a show that mixes various genres such as drama, suspense, and, of course, with an interesting quota of humor. In Spoiler, we tell you what is different about this series and why it is an excellent story to start enjoying.
Created by Sally Lindsay Y Sue Vicent, the series follows the life of Jean White, an English woman expert in antiques who suddenly finds out that her husband has died in a terrible car accident in Sainte Victoire, France. From Manchester she travels to this flashy little French village not only to collect her husband’s belongings but to find out why he is now bankrupt. Thus, she will have the mission of solving the mystery of her husband ahead of her. In this somewhat eccentric adventure, Jean meets people who will help her understand what happened to her partner and who will also become great allies.
One of the most interesting elements of The Madame Blanc Mysteries antiques stand out, a universe perhaps little explored in television series. Jean is an antiquarian specialist and will demonstrate all her knowledge in each of the episodes. Those who are attracted to this theme will surely see with good eyes how it is portrayed. Perhaps this has to do with the fact that its creator, Sally Lindsay, is a true fan of antiques and has always been linked to this particular world.
On the other hand, the series is based on a special combination of genres that make the story more and more captivating. We have a woman who has just lost her husband in a dramatic way and is determined to find an answer to the tragedy. Jean is able to get to the bottom of the matter and even surprise herself about what she can achieve. All this is always traced under a sophisticated line of humor with characters who are willing to make us laugh with their occurrences.
At the same time, it is not less important to highlight the photography work that has been done for this Acorn show. The Madame Blanc Mysteries was filmed in Malta Y Gozo, and perfectly presents us with a beautiful traditional-style villa that, although you fall in love instantly, also knows how to leave us with a halo of mystery. Undoubtedly, each of the scenes manages to transport almost in time and space to that place that, yes, hides something.
Just as in Queens of Mystery we saw a leading quartet of women, The Madame Blanc Mysteries continue on this path. Lindsay and Vicent shine both as creators and actresses. Lindsay plays a brave, intelligent and headstrong woman who will do anything to understand what happened to her husband’s life, but also to understand who he really was. His character is charismatic and achieves the necessary empathy to connect with the public, without a doubt. Meanwhile, Vincent adds a lot of humor to his character Gloria.
And in this same sense is Steve Edge, who plays Dom, a British taxi driver who lives in Sainte Victoire a few years ago. With your willingness and kindness, you will become a unique companion for Jean on this journey. The chemistry between the actors is magnificent and they convey a naturalness to the bond.
The Madame Blanc Mysteries has 6 episodes approximately one hour under the direction of Dermot Boyd, known for Mount Pleasant, and it is a very good option for those who love to solve mysteries in the best style Agatha Christie. It’s fresh, funny and super entertaining. from this Thursday January 13 you can already see its first chapter in Acorn TV.
