The Mexican Stock Exchange gains 0.73% with advances for 23 of 34 issuers

Mexico City, Sep 15 (EFE) .- The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) advanced this Wednesday by 0.73%, in its main indicator, reaching 52,192.33 points, in a day in which they were registered earnings for 23 of the 34 top broadcasters.

Within the Index of Prices and Quotations (IPC) —main indicator of the BMV— “most of the sectors showed gains, concentrating on the industrial sector (1.58%), the financial sector (1.15%) and goods roots (1.0%), “Banco Base analyst Karla Bajos explained to Efe.

He added that 23 of the 34 main companies closed in positive territory, highlighting the earnings of Grupo Carso (7.95%), Alfa (5.87%) and Telesites (3.67%).

“It should be remembered that tomorrow the Mexican Stock Exchange will remain closed before the celebration of Independence Day,” he added.

The specialist pointed out that during the session “the index overcame the resistance of 52,000 points, reaching an intraday maximum of 52,238.50 points, a level observed since September 7.”

On the day, the Mexican peso depreciated 0.19% against the dollar, trading at 20.09 units per greenback on the interbank market.

The IPC closed at 53,192.33 units with a gain of 318.46 points and a positive variation of 0.73% compared to the previous session.

The volume traded in the market reached 249.3 million titles for an amount of 13,753 million pesos (about 684.5 million dollars).

Of the 651 firms that were listed on the day, 321 ended up with their prices rising, 295 had losses and 35 more closed without change.
