Disney’s The Owl House, created by Dana Terrace, is one of the most sought-after shows. It tells the story of a girl named Luz Noceda, an ambitious dreamer from Connecticut who accidentally travels through a portal to a magical world called The Boiling Isles instead of heading to a summer camp. She meets ‘The Owl Lady’, an individualistic and talented witch. She offers to train Luz in magic, and they try to reclaim the human realm. Living at the Owl House with Eda and another roommate, the demon king, Luz quickly feels at home in this strange land. She also attends a local magic school and makes new friends, enemies, and more.

The show soon became a fan-favorite series for many reasons. After completing its two successful seasons, fans wonder if the show will have its third installment or not. And there is good news. The third season kicked off on the 15th of October this year, and there is more to come from Luz’s adventurous story.

Here are the updates about The Owl House season three.

When will the Third Season be Released?

Although the third season debuted in full swing, it is not following the layout of the prior seasons. Reportedly, the third installment would only include three special episodes of 44 minutes each. It is quite a departure from the previous seasons for they included 19 and 21 episodes, respectively.

Disney dropped the first episode of the third season on the 15th of October 2022, and soon it made its way to YouTube. Reportedly, this episode will soon make its appearance on Disney+ for the US audience on the 14th of December. As for the remaining two episodes, they are likely to premiere in 2023.

So, what is the idea of releasing these episodes in a format different from the previous seasons? It is said that the creators were given the chance to wrap up the story. Instead of sending it to the graveyard of the abruptly canceled shows once and for all, they decided to spread the conclusion in three different ‘special episodes’. The audience is likely to have a new experience watching the three specials.

At the beginning of the first special episode, Luz, Hunter, Amity, Willow, and Gus get pulled back into the Human Realm Luz’s friends are welcomed into her home by her mother; however, they seem stuck as the portal, which led them it is now closed. Without giving too much away, they try to find a way to open the portal, but in vain. The season may or may not feature some shocking deaths.
