The Peruvian government reported on Tuesday that it signed an agreement with Human Vaccine LLC, a subsidiary of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), for the acquisition of 20 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus.

“This Administration reiterates its commitment to guarantee the public health of all Peruvians and to continue the fight against the covid-19 pandemic,” they add in the official statement.

The current Peruvian president, Francisco Sagasti, who heads the transitional government that ends on July 28, confirmed the news and, through a message on Twitter, indicated that they will work until “the last minute” of the administration “to ensure as many vaccines as possible“.

“We are making progress in defining the schedule for the delivery of these vaccines in such a way that the next government (of Pedro Castillo) can specify the details that we will leave well in advance,” said Sagasti.
