Azmeh Dawood, the sister of Shahzada Dawood, shared that her nephew had confided in her days before the voyage, expressing his readiness. However, he felt obliged to fulfill his father’s passionate desire to see the 1912 wreck. Azmeh Dawood expressed her paralyzing grief, stating that she would never have boarded the submarine, even for one million euros.

An Unimaginable Loss

The untimely loss of Suleman, a first-year university student at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, has deeply devastated his aunt. Azmeh Dawood, who suffers from multiple sclerosis and resides in Amsterdam, had limited contact with her brother and nephew. She described Suleman as a young man “with a huge heart.” Suleman’s grandparents, Hussain and Kulsum Dawood, also mourned their beloved grandson and son, referring to his death as an “unimaginable loss.”

The company that operated the ship, OceanGate Expeditions, paid tribute to their CEO Stockton Rush, Shahzada Dawood, Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding, and Paul-Henri Nargeolet, saying that they were true explorers who had a strong spirit of adventure and a deep passion for exploring and protecting the world’s oceans. The loss of these individuals has brought immense sadness to their loved ones, and the company extends their heartfelt condolences to all those affected.
