A few days ago we read in Microsoft’s official website that “As of November 1, 2021, some users may not be able to open or use certain built-in Windows applications or parts of some built-in applications”. This was due to a problem with a Microsoft digital certificate, “that expired on October 31, 2021”.
Problems in Windows 11 with an expired certificate
The applications that did not work were these:
- Snipping Tool
- Accounts page in Settings app (S mode only)
- Start menu in Settings app (S mode only)
- Touch keyboard, voice typing and Emoji panel
- Input Method Editor User Interface (IME UI)
- Introduction and Suggestions
A week later, Microsoft managed to repair (only) three of them with a new version of the October 21 update, KB5006746, like a “partial solution “. But there were still three more to be solved, which the company has already done with another update, the out-of-band update KB5008295.
Now, the latest patch released Friday by Microsoft completely fixes these six bugs. According to the company, “personal and business users with Windows Update will not have to do anything to get the updated ‘software’ to their devices“as it will jump only through Windows Update. However, if you prefer to search for the update yourself, you can download it from this link.
