Moscow got this Thursday with two awards from the prestigious World Travel Awards 2021 tourism industry award. The capital of Russia was named the best destination to study historical heritage and the best city for short trips.
“This year, Moscow became the main destination for historical heritage and the best destination for short trips. In addition, St. Petersburg and we received an award for promoting domestic tourism with the project ‘Two cities: a million impressions'”, he pointed Mayor Sergei Sobianin on his official page on the VK social network. “Congratulations to all those who participated in this success! And, of course, thanks to the tourists. The city and our hearts are open to all who want to know Moscow better,” he said.
It should be noted that in the category “Best address for short trips” Moscow advancement to Dubai, Geneva and Athens, while in the nomination “Best destination for historical exploration” the Russian capital was positioned ahead of Paris, London, Prague and Vienna.
The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 and are awarded annually in various categories. Thousands of tourists and specialists from the travel industry vote for various candidates, guided by parameters such as the security of the city, the state of its infrastructure and the hotel system.
